Patna, November 5, 2025 (Indus Zone Media):
Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has strongly criticised Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for his controversial comments about the Indian Army, accusing him of attempting to “create unrest and politicise the armed forces.”
Speaking at multiple election rallies across poll-bound Bihar, Mr. Singh said that the Indian Army represents unity, discipline, and devotion — values that rise above caste, community, or religion.
“The Indian Army has only one religion — Sainya Dharma. Our soldiers serve the nation, not any caste or community. Rahul Gandhi’s statement demanding reservation in the Army is an attempt to divide the forces and create anarchy,” Mr. Singh said while addressing a massive rally in Jamui in support of BJP candidate Shreyasi Singh.
‘Army Should Never Be Dragged into Politics’
Mr. Singh reiterated that India’s defence forces have always been a symbol of national pride and must remain untouched by political debates. He condemned the Congress for “lowering the dignity” of institutions that safeguard India’s democracy.
“Whenever India faced a crisis, our brave soldiers made the nation proud with their courage. Dragging the Army into politics is a disservice to their sacrifice,” he added.
Rahul Gandhi’s Remarks Trigger Political Storm
The controversy erupted after Mr. Gandhi reportedly said that the Army was “controlled by 10% of the country’s population,” referring to the so-called upper castes. The statement sparked sharp reactions from the BJP, with leaders accusing the Congress of spreading divisive narratives ahead of the Bihar Assembly elections 2025.
Mr. Singh also took a jibe at the Congress leader’s recent election campaign antics, saying,
“Running a nation is not child’s play. Rahul Gandhi has no vision left; he has to jump into ponds to stay relevant in politics.”
NDA’s Message: Inclusive Growth and Strong Governance
Rajnath Singh highlighted that under the Narendra Modi government, India’s image on the global stage has transformed from “weak” to “powerful.” Referring to Operation Sindoor, launched after the Pahalgam terror attack, he said the mission had destroyed major terror hideouts and reaffirmed India’s zero-tolerance policy towards terrorism.
“India will strike back strongly if terrorism resurfaces. The operation is paused, not stopped,” the Defence Minister asserted.
He also credited the Nitish Kumar-led government for Bihar’s progress in infrastructure, education, and electricity over the last two decades.
“Earlier, Bihar struggled for basic amenities like roads and power. Today, Metro trains are running in Patna — that’s the result of good governance,” he said, expressing confidence that the NDA will return to power with a two-thirds majority.
Opposition Playing ‘Politics of Fear and False Promises’
Mr. Singh accused the Opposition, including the RJD and Congress, of misleading the people with false narratives and attacking constitutional bodies like the Election Commission without evidence.
“The people of Bihar have understood their tactics. They know the Opposition is preparing excuses even before losing. The NDA’s politics is based on trust and performance, not fear and deceit,” he said.
He concluded by reaffirming that the NDA’s vision is to make Bihar a ‘Viksit Rajya’ (Developed State) through honest leadership and inclusive growth.
JP Nadda Joins Campaign Trail
Meanwhile, BJP national president J.P. Nadda also addressed rallies in Madhuban and Narkatiaganj, where he claimed the RJD’s political DNA remains unchanged.
“Extortion, jungle raj, and lawlessness are in their DNA. Their songs glorify guns and abductions even before coming to power,” Mr. Nadda said, urging voters to back the NDA’s development-driven politics.
