By The Indus Zone Media Tech Desk | November 10, 2025 | Lenskart CEO Peyush Bansal’s Son Showcases India’s First AI Smartglasses
Eyewear brand Lenskart has unveiled India’s first locally developed AI-powered smartglasses, named “B by Lenskart.” The company’s CEO, Peyush Bansal, introduced the innovative product in a unique way — by letting his young son demonstrate its features in a viral social media video.
The reveal comes as Lenskart prepares for its upcoming IPO, signaling the company’s ambition to expand beyond eyewear retail and into the AI and wearable technology space.
A Glimpse Into Lenskart’s AI Smartglasses
In the short video shared by Peyush Bansal on Instagram, his son can be seen recording videos directly through the smartglasses, showcasing their built-in camera and AI voice assistant capabilities. The demonstration also hinted at hands-free UPI payment support, powered by the glasses’ integrated camera and voice command features.
The product, according to early details, runs on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon AR1 Gen 1 chipset and includes a Sony camera module for capturing videos and images. It also supports real-time translation and features Google’s Gemini 2.5 Live AI assistant — offering an immersive blend of productivity, convenience, and futuristic technology.
Although the official price has not been announced, industry experts predict a competitive price point to make the device more accessible than international rivals like Meta’s Ray-Ban smartglasses.
“The Future Is Getting Ready,” Says Peyush Bansal
Bansal’s Instagram caption, “Morning 7 AM experiments with B [smartglasses]. The future’s getting ready… coming soon for all,” quickly caught the attention of the internet.
The teaser video sparked massive engagement online, with tech enthusiasts intrigued by the seamless AI integration and Indian innovation behind the product. The launch marks a bold step for Lenskart, which continues to evolve from a digital eyewear brand to a tech-driven lifestyle company.
Mixed Reactions Online: Meta Ray-Ban vs Lenskart ‘B’
Despite the buzz, online reactions have been divided. While many praised Lenskart’s entry into the AI wearable space, others compared the prototype’s camera quality unfavorably with Meta’s Ray-Ban smartglasses.
Tech influencer Utsav Techie (@utsavtechie) reposted the video on X (formerly Twitter), commenting:
“After watching this quality from Lenskart glasses, I’ll prefer my Ray-Ban Meta.”
His post received hundreds of responses — some applauding Lenskart’s homegrown innovation, while others criticized the early demo for its low-quality footage.
Utsav later clarified, “The product isn’t in the market yet. Maybe they’ll refine it before launch.”
Several users echoed similar sentiments, urging critics to wait for the final version, while others argued that Indian tech startups often compromise on quality in pursuit of affordability.
Defenders highlighted that Lenskart, founded in 2010, is still relatively young compared to Meta, which has over a decade of research in AR technology.
Developer Ecosystem and Expansion Plans
Interestingly, Lenskart has opened the “B by Lenskart” platform to third-party developers, allowing custom app creation for navigation, fitness tracking, language translation, and other AI-powered experiences.
The move positions the company to become a key Indian player in wearable AI technology, bridging fashion and functionality in one frame.
Outlook
With India’s AI and wearable market expanding rapidly, Lenskart’s smartglasses could be a game-changer if the final product delivers on design, quality, and affordability. As the IPO launch nears, the timing of this tech reveal could further strengthen investor confidence in Lenskart’s innovation-driven future.
